No Unnecessary Sales
Many HVAC companies are primarily sales-driven, not repair-driven.
That means that every time they come out to your house to "repair" something, they are
primarily (and in many cases solely) interested in selling you something - mainly a brand-new
unit, than actually repairing anything.
And every technician they hire is trained primarily in sales, plus the technician is given
the sales quota he/she has to reach each month.
Technicians are urged to sell UV lights, electronic air filters, humidifiers, surge
protectors, high-voltage upgrades, etc...
And if your furnace or air conditioner is over 8 years old, they will always "highly
recommend" that you buy a new unit. Some will even "highly recommend" a new unit after
5 years, since "Austin gets so hot in the summer".
Fair AC
does not sell anything; our only interest is in repairing your AC in the most
efficient and fair way.
Fair AC generally recommends getting a new system when your
existing AC system is genially old and your
repairs are so complicated and expensive, it objectively makes sense to
just get a new unit. Expensive repairs on very old systems are
particularly problematic because your aging system is likely to
break down again within a couple of years after the expensive repair.
